Veterans Dedication

On Friday, June 18th, we held the Veterans Memorial Dedication ceremony at the American Legion Park.

Fred Houser and Mike Gray with the American Post 278 started the ceremony with a prayer, the playing of the National Anthem, and the raising of the American Flag, Army flag, and Virginia flag.

The ceremony included a presentation of the Virginia flag by Chaz Haywood, a history lesson by Town Manager, Austin Garber, and a presentation by Fred Houser, with the American Legion Post 278.

The Broadway bands (JFHMS and BHS) played the National Anthem, Legacy of Heroes, and Marches of the Armed Forces, where veterans had a chance to be recognized for their services.

The ceremony concluded with a flag burning ceremony.

We'd like to thank the American Legion Post 278, Broadway (BHS/JFHMS) Summer band, the Boys and Girls Scouts, and Chaz Haywood, Clerk of the Court for joining us at the event and the Timberville Vol. Fire Department and Plains District Community Center for loaning us chairs for the event.

The memorial was made possible by the donations made by the American Legion Post 278, Cargill, Tony Wilt and Superior Concrete, Frazier Quarry, Creative Concrete, Patriot Collision, and Jayme DeLaughter.
